Writing While Parenting
“Writing While Parenting, Ben Berman’s wonderful new collection, is a striking work of wit, wisdom, and authenticity… These essays are full of surprises, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary at every turn."
January O’Neil, author of Rewilding
"Ben Berman's witty, brainy, soulful look at writing-while-parenting will speak to every parent – and every writer – committed to understanding the way that having kids raises the stakes for – and loosens the reins of – how we speak and write."
Elisa New, director and host of Poetry in America

"Ben Berman’s fine, clever poems are never merely clever. Their frisky formal play is finally and importantly about the finding of forms that might adequately contain our feelings."

“Reflective in nature, these poems use form–from slant-rhyming couplets to prose poems–to limn the tensions of readjustment, and mine memory for stories that keep the author rooted to a place that will forever and never be his."

"Situated somewhere between poetry and prose, memoir and philosophy, the familiar and the foreign, these mesmerising vignettes possess an uncanny power.”
